Yerevan State Musical Comedy Theater was founded on December 23, 1941․ With the staging of Valentinov's opera "Fire Priestess", it was officially opened on June 22, 1942 with Rudolf Nelson's operetta "The King Has Fun". The musical comedy theater experienced a creative rise in the mid-1940s by director V. Led by Achemyan. Since 1962, the theater has been named after the great Armenian satirist Hakob Paronyan. Famous operettas Tigran Chukhajyan and Artemi Ayvazyan are on the play list, then Vardan Tigranyan, Vagharshak Kotoyan, Alexander Harutyunyan, Grigor Yeghiazaryan and others are writing special works for the theater. Not only Armenian directors, such as Leon Kalantar, Armen Gulakyan, Tigran Shamirkhanyan, Vardan Achemyan, Hovhannes Karapetyan, Tachat Vardazaryan, Hrachya Ghaplanyan, Manya Aslanyan, Vavik Vardemyan (Yerevan), and others were invited to work in the Musical Comedy Theater. Popov (Bulgaria), Allegrov (Moscow), Khachatryan (Ukraine), Gamrekeli (Tbilisi) and others.
